SOLAR PREP GIRLS PTA

Striving to connect and strengthen the Solar Girls Community from within and beyond!

About the PTA

The Solar Prep Girls Parent Teacher Association, (formerly the Solar Prep PTO 2016-2023), was established in the Spring of 2023. It is comprised of Solar families, Solar staff, and extended community members committed to supporting our school and our scholars through generous contributions of time, talent, and financial giving.

Solar Prep Girls PTA is committed to supporting our school and we know you are, too. Parents, grandparents, guardians, and teachers that wish to help our school and scholars can ALL join the Solar Prep Girls PTA!

The purposes of Solar Prep Girls PTA are:

  • to promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, places of worship, and throughout the community;
  • to raise the standards of home life;
  • to advocate for laws that further the education, physical and mental health, welfare, and safety of children and youth;
  • to promote the collaboration and engagement of families and educators in the education of children and youth;
  • to engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth; and
  • to advocate for fiscal responsibility regarding public tax dollars in public education funding.

The purposes of National PTA, Texas PTA and this PTA are promoted through advocacy and education in collaboration with parents, families, teachers, educators, students, and the public; developed through conferences, committees, projects, and programs.

VOLUNTEER WITH THE PTA

Volunteer opportunities include -- but are not limited to -- fundraising, event planning, community outreach, parent education, teacher appreciation, facilitating enrichment programs for scholars, and welcoming prospective families. All volunteers, without exception, must be registered through DISD VOLY, as it is the centralized, systemized portal through which background checks and other critical information is verified so that our students are served as safely and securely as possible. In addition, it tracks volunteer hours served on any given campus, which is directly tied to fundamental operations such as funding and performance evaluations.

DO I HAVE TO VOLUNTEER?

Solar Prep Girls PTA welcomes and encourages everyone to volunteer – "joining" the PTA simply means you have invested financial resources and entitles you to a voice in PTA business, but does not obligate you to volunteer. However, the PTA also welcomes the investment of TIME, wherein you as a volunteer can devote as much time as you have/desire to offer. We realize families are busy and know not everyone has the luxury of this time – but if you are able to and desire to volunteer your time and talents, we need you and have a place for you!
